This set of photos taken by Matsuki Kousuki has me wishing I could live in a floral studio. I am greatly lacking a green thumb so there is a significant lack of plants in my home. This is something I hope to remedy in the near future (all those Miracle-Gro commercials on HGTV are making me believe I can do this!) and when that does happen, I might end up with a greenroom in my house. Does anyone have any secret gardening tips that they’re willing to share?

My husband and I started officially hunting for a house last week and managed to find one that we already love. Fingers crossed! The idea of moving into a place that’s completely ours is such an exciting thing. And being a designer, I’m already brainstorming how I’m going to whip all our new space into a comfortable + relaxing home. I’ve made some design decisions that I wish I hadn’t and am looking forward to a big re-do. Let’s just say there will be a minimal amount of dark wood and furniture in our home.

I have a few home decorating books, including Decorate and New Decorating Book by BHG, that I find myself constantly flipping through. I’ve bookmarked so many pages of fresh ideas that I want to try when the big move happens (and with all these ideas coming in, I’m hoping it’s going to be really soon; I just might explode from all the excitement). This is going to be good. The photos below are not from any of the two books mentioned above, but are ones that I pinned onto my Pinterest. Now that’s another big source of inspiration for me.

Oh Stacy, house hunting is sooo exciting! I hope you guys get what you are looking for :)
Love all those fresh ideas, especially the kitchen!

@Mary Z — I hope so too! It’s real fun looking for one too.

Flowers seem to grace the top of tiered cakes more often than anything else. My mother always puts fruits on her one-layer cakes, so that’s something I’m used to; but when it comes to something like a wedding cake, it tends to be flowers. This spring, how about we deck out our cakes with fruit?

I’ve been growing more and more in love with world map art on walls. Whether they’re vinyl decals or chalkboard paint; whether they’re on the wall in your living room, dining room, or office space; whether they’re just simple silhouettes or have a bit more detail or color, I haven’t found one that looked all wrong. They look so effortless in a room and I’m planning on putting one up when the times comes to move into a bigger place. (Image credits below.)

Not too long ago I came across a super talented photographer who’s based out of a city neighboring mine. It’s always thrilling to see creatives who are local, which means they immediately get put on my “hopefully-we-will-meet-someday” list. Some of you might already know who I’m talking about because of the crazy awesome photos below. Yep, the photographer is Erich McVey. He recently did this shoot that he titled Wild Thing, and I instantly fell in love with it. I put up just a few, but make sure you stop by his site to check out the rest and take a look at the rest of his portfolio. Just amazing, I tell you.
